Green Apron: Leading the Future of Organic Farming in Sri Lanka
Green Apron (GA) sets a new benchmark in organic agriculture by combining global certifications, innovative composting science, and clean cultivation practices—offering partners a transparent and scalable model for premium organic produce.
What Sets GA Apart
Good Market Certified
GA is certified under the Good Market Organic Participatory Guarantee System (PGS)—a globally recognized community-based organic standard endorsed by IFOAM – Organics International. This assures customers of ethical sourcing, traceability, and compliance with global organic protocols.
GAT Certification (Applied)
GA has applied for the Good Agricultural Practices (GAP/GAT) certification through the Sri Lankan government. This certification is crucial for export markets, as it validates sustainable and safe agricultural practices, positioning GA for international trade partnerships.
Proprietary In-House Compost System
Unlike typical organic farms, GA has developed its own composting solution that eliminates the need for synthetic fungicides, pesticides, and weedicides. This innovation is endorsed by local agricultural authorities and is a cornerstone of their sustainable farming strategy.
Strawberry Cultivation Without Abamectin
Conventional wisdom states strawberries can’t be grown without Abamectin, a chemical pesticide. GA has proven otherwise. With an import license for Athena Fertilizer (USA’s leading nutrient solution for strawberries), GA grows strawberries free from synthetic pesticides—uncommon even among high-end organic producers.
Replacing Banned Fungicides
In Sri Lanka, many farms still rely on Mangosept and Dacodil—fungicides banned in the USA since 1984 due to their toxicity. GA has created organic alternatives to both, safeguarding health while boosting crop protection—another sign of their forward-thinking R&D.
